Paying monthly for equipment that has to outlast a Suwannee County July
Compressors in this county quit in the hottest week of the year, not the month the savings account is ready. Financing exists to close that gap without putting a cheaper, worse system in the house.

Why the timing is the whole problem here
Live Oak summers run hotter than the coast because nothing cools the afternoon off; 94 is a normal high, and the humidity sits on the house from June into September. Systems fail under that load, often during the stretch when a family has already spent on a watermelon crop, a school year or a roof after Helene. Financing with low monthly payments on a new high-efficiency system means the decision gets made on the merits of the equipment instead of on what’s in checking that week.
How it works at Cook’s, step by step
Jerry comes out, measures the house and the ductwork, and writes a proposal for a system sized to the structure rather than to the nameplate of the unit being removed. The proposal carries a cash figure and a financed figure. If you choose the monthly route, the application is handled at the kitchen table and an answer usually comes back during the visit. Install is scheduled when you say, including the same week in an emergency. We don’t publish a lender, a rate or a term on this page because those details belong on your paperwork, current and in writing, not on a website that can go stale.
The meter decides the rebate
Who sends your electric bill matters more than it does in most towns. Inside the Live Oak city limits, and in Wellborn and Houston, the utility is FPL, which offers an instant credit on qualifying high-efficiency systems at SEER2 15.2 and above when installed by a contractor enrolled in its program. Whether Cook’s is currently enrolled, and the exact credit, is something to ask about when you call. [[CONFIRM WITH JERRY]]
Across the rest of Suwannee County, and most of Hamilton, Lafayette and Madison, the power comes from the Suwannee Valley co-op. Its programs center on smart thermostats and reminders rather than cash toward equipment. Natural gas is available from the city only inside town; the county runs on propane, which shapes whether a dual-fuel setup is even an option at your address.
The federal credit, stated once
The federal 25C and 25D tax credits ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. We won’t put a federal credit in your proposal or imply one is coming back. Florida’s HEAR and HOMES rebate programs had not opened as of this writing. When any of that changes, this page will.
What financing is not for
It is not a reason to buy a bigger system. Oversized single-stage units are the most common mistake we find in the older ranches here; they cool the air fast and leave the humidity behind. Financing lets you afford the right size at a higher efficiency tier, which is where the monthly payment partly pays for itself on the electric bill.
Paying for a system in Suwannee County
Is financing only for whole systems, or can a big repair qualify?
Our financing is built around new high-efficiency systems. A compressor swap on a 15-year-old unit is a repair, and we’d rather talk about whether that money belongs in a repair at all before anyone signs anything.
I'm on the co-op, not FPL. Is there any rebate for me?
As of this writing the co-op runs a smart-thermostat program and filter-change reminders but no cash rebate on a heat pump that we could find. We’ll check current terms when you call and never fold an incentive into the math that we can’t document.
Does a manufactured home qualify for financing the same way?
The financing decision is about the buyer, not the type of home. A package unit for a manufactured home in Suwannee River Mobile Estates is quoted and financed through the same process as a split system in Eagle’s Pointe.
Can I apply before the old system fails?
Yes, and it’s the better order. A free estimate in April, when the system is limping, lets you choose equipment and payment on your schedule instead of on a 94-degree Tuesday.
